Vaccinated individuals in Abu Dhabi need weekly tests to maintain exemptions

Weekly PCR tests are required to retain exemption status

Rules for vaccinated residents and citizens in Abu Dhabi have been updated.

Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee and Department of Health have updated the procedures for exemptions in the emirate.

Individuals getting vaccinated from COVID-19 are exempt from border regulations and quarantine.

Once vaccinated, individuals will have a symbol on their Al Hosn application that grants exemption from presenting a negative test at the Abu Dhabi border.

Volunteers in the National Vaccination Programme will have a gold star and vaccinated individuals will see an ‘E’ on the application.

From January 17, these symbols will only be visible if a PCR test is taken every seven days.

To keep the vaccination notification on the Al Hosn application all those who are vaccinated or volunteering in the National Vaccination programme will need to be tested weekly.

This will remain valid for seven days at a time.

For passengers arriving in Abu Dhabi from overseas, if the country is on the ‘green list’ a PCR test will need to be taken on day six after arrival in the emirate.

For those arriving in Abu Dhabi from countries that are not on the ‘green list’, a PCR test must be taken on arrival and undergo quarantine for ten days with a PCR test taken on the eighth day.

If a person comes into contact with someone who has a positive result they must quarantine for five days and take a PCR test on day four.

If the test result is negative the individual can end their quarantine.
