Appaloosa
This cool sports bar doesn’t make you choose between a well-deserved lie-in and a moreish breakfast fry-up. Serving the Breakfast of Champions, diners get a plate packed with sausages, bacon, hash browns, mushrooms, pudding and eggs of their choice (fried, obvs) served on fried bread. Available until 9pm, you can munch away while watching football on one of the many screens covering the walls. Bliss.
Dhs79. Daily noon-9pm. Marriott Hotel Al Forsan Abu Dhabi, Khalifa City (02 201 4131).

Easy Tiger
The term ‘belly-busting fry’ is bandied about a lot, but Easy Tiger’s full English breakfast really will stretch stomachs and belt buckles to their limits. Four fried eggs, six sausages, six rashers, four pieces of pudding, four hash browns, four tomatoes, two pots of baked beans and mushrooms plus six (SIX) slices of toast is so much of a challenge that it is recommended four people take it on. Don’t feel like sharing? Get the smaller version for Dhs82.
Dhs82. Open daily noon-4am. Al Ain Palace Hotel, Sheikh Khalifa Street (02 678 0522).

PJ O’Reilly’s
A breakfast fry-up is almost as essential as a pint of black stuff to an Irish pub, and at PJ O’Reilly’s visitors can get themselves a cracking brekkie in the capital’s oldest Irish establishment. Crispy bacon, sausage, black pudding, grilled field mushrooms, tomato, potato rosti, fried egg and baked beans come served with tea or coffee and white toast. Not a bad way to start the day by any measure.
Dhs75. Open Sun-Wed noon-2am, Thu noon-3am, Fri 9am-3am, Sat 9am-2am. Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa Street (02 695 0515).

tashas
While there are plenty of healthy choices on the menu at this swish café, it’s difficult not to be tempted by the fry-up. The Classic comes with two eggs (how you like them) beef bacon, lamb sausages, mushrooms and tomato with a slices of toast on the side. Too much? Plump for the mini fry coming in at Dhs58.
Dhs78. Open daily 8am-midnight. Marsa al Bateen (02 445 0890).

The Coffee Club
It is called The Big Breakfast and the fry-up lives up to its name at this popular chain. Cumberland sausages, veal bacon, eggs, cherry tomatoes, button mushrooms, sourdough toast and a hash brown will keep hunger locked up until lunch (and probably longer). And yes, diners get a coffee thrown in as well.
Dhs68. Various locations including Yas Mall and Abu Dhabi Mall www.thecoffeeclubme.com.

The Sportsman’s Arms
A popular spot to drop in after you’ve finished pushing the body to the limit at one of Zayed Sports City’s many sporting facilities, The Sportman’s Arms dishes out a full Irish breakfast for guests looking for some fry-up fare. For Dhs85, chow down on eggs, beef bacon, beef sausage, baked beans, grilled tomato, mushrooms and hash browns, served with your choice of rye or sunflower bread. Yum!
Dhs85. Open Sat-Wed noon-11pm, Fri-Sat noon-1am. The Sportsman’s Arms, Zayed Sports City (02 447 1066).
