Where to find the best nachos in Abu Dhabi

The tastiest Mexican snacks in the capital, fully loaded with guac, cheese, salsa and more

Whether they are drowning in melted cheese, slathered in salsa, or whacked with guac, there’s really nothing better than a plate heaped with nachos.

Looking for fantastic nachos in Abu Dhabi? We’ve been searching for nachos heaped with incredible toppings, chips that are never soggy and chunky salsa.

And if you’re still hungry, we’ve also been hunting for the best roast dinners in the capital, incredible ice cream parlors and the city’s best eggs Benedicts.

In short, we’ve done our research, here are the best nachos in Abu Dhabi.

Amerigos

Step into a little corner of Mexico in Abu Dhabi. Bright colours and cool décor make it feel as if we’re thousands of miles away, but fortunately there is no need to catch a flight for top-quality nachos in Abu Dhabi. Tortilla chips are topped with beef chilli, melted cheese, pico, pinto beans, guacamole and sour cream. Perfect for sitting outside and observing the poor golfers turmoil on Yas Links Golf Course.
Open Tue-Fri 5pm-1am; Sat 12.30pm-3.30pm, 5pm-1am; Sun 11am-1am. Park Inn by Radisson Blu Abu Dhabi Yas Island, Yas Island (02 656 2000).

Burro Blanco

We love an eatery that places all the emphasis on the quality of its food. No frills or theatrics (or distractions), just good, honest, top-quality Mexican grub. Burra Blanco has no time for gimmicks, and with its loaded nachos diners can tell where all the time is spent. Homemade tortilla chips topped with aged cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, its famous guac, sour cream, corn salsa and a choice of chilli con carne, Beyond Meat or black beans results in some of the best nachos in all the capital. Load us up.
Sun-Thu 11am-10pm; Fri-Sat 11am-midnight. Zayed the First Street, www.burroblanco.ae (02 3093911).

Captain’s Arms

Nachos in Abu Dhabi, by order of the captain. Well, this is one command with which we wouldn’t disagree. Corn tortillas, refried beans, jalapeños, cheddar cheese, guac, salsa, sour cream and a bottle of hops while soaking up the sun and watching some sport in the village, sounds like bliss to us.
Open daily, 12.30pm-2am. Le Méridien Village (02 697 4482).

La Carnita

If you’re on the hunt for Mexican food at Yas Bay Waterfront, La Carnita is your spot. The LC nachos come with melted queso, Mexican crema, pickled chilies, scallions, tomatillo and guacamole. You can add Achiote chicken, mixed mushrooms or chorizo to take the meal to the next level. These are some of the best nachos in Abu Dhabi.
Mon-Thu 6pm-2am; Fri, Sun, noon-2am; Sat 1pm-2am. Yas Bay Waterfront, Yas Island (050 185 8068).

Loca

It is against the rules for a Mexican restaurant to not have amazing nachos, and Loca is most certainly adhering to regulations with its Nachos de la Casa. Fully loaded with all the usual suspects, including a choice of marinated Angus beef tenderloin or corn fed chicken with adobo marinade for the carnivores, these chips will never disappoint for those needing to satisfy their hunger for fully loaded nachos in Abu Dhabi.
Open daily, noon-midnight. The Galleria Mall, Al Maryah Island, www.locauae.com (02 5823639).

PJ O’Reilly’s

Not the first place on the list we would think of for nachos in Abu Dhabi, but PJ O’Reilly’s take punches with the best in Abu Dhabi. Braised licensed meat chilli, melted cheese, sour cream, salsa, and corn tortilla chips (crunch, crunch) leave tums suitably filled and nacho needs satisfied.
Mon-Wed, Noon-2am; Thu-Fri, noon-3am; Sat-Sun 11am-3am. Le Royal Méridien, Sheikh Khalifa Street (02 695 0515).

Senior Taco

He might be called Senior Taco but the man knows his way around a nacho dish. Nachos, beef cheese, jalapeños, lettuce, salsa and guacamole make it easy to see why these chips are in with a fair shout of calling themselves some of the best nachos in Abu Dhabi. The space is something between a food truck and a restaurant and can be found at Marsa Mina serving all things Mexican.
Open daily noon-2am. Marsa Mina (058 633 3150).

Stars N Bars

Is there a more appropriate trifecta than nachos, hops and live sports? We don’t think so and at Stars N Bars punters can kick-back, watch football with a cool bottle of hops while munching on ultimate nachos. Corn tortillas, string mozzarella, cheddar, jalapeños, served pico de gallo, sour cream and homemade guac makes for a great way to block your howls of derision when ref obviously makes the wrong call. But if that isn’t enough, chill con carne or grilled chicken can be added for Dhs9 or Dhs19 to the regular or large servings respectively. Now that’s tasty.
Open Sun-Thu noon-2am; Fri-Sat noon-3am, Sat noon-2am. Yas Island (02 565 0101).
